I considered myself a blue-republic, because the union soldiers was weared proudly blue and stands up for the President Abraham Lincoln..
don't know why the red stands for the republican today? It's supposed to be The Rebel Confederation of the Democrat Jefferson Davis..

Thanks for the expalantion. IMO, It was a huge disservice to public dialogue. Now every color is associated with some or the other party or ideology. Content has taken a back seat, it is more about the packaging, creating added conflict

This has always been my doubt because Republican party is a Right Wing Party but Red is the colour of leftists

The colors are the opposite of literally everywhere else in the world.

The argument I've heard, which does make sense, is alliteration. R is for red and Republican, and you could even now throw in both right-wing and rural to that as well.

But the mainstream media wanted the Republicans to be associated with the worst regimes in world history, the communists, where red is their primary color. That is why they made Republicans red because mainstream media had a decent left-wing bias in 2000, but now it is an extreme left-wing bias.
