One of the states I grew up in, we had a wrap around screened in porch.
In the summer time, we would all be out on the porch, sleeping.
My first taste of Air conditioning was in 1984. When we moved out to Mojave California. They call it a swamp cooler.
Most of my life I didn't have air conditioning. Air conditioning is going to the lake.

LOL . We were in a restaurant in Montreal, Quebec and witnessed a frustrated customer who obviously didn't speak or understand French . My husband spoke fluent French so he got up to help the tourist and the middle-aged waitress communicate with each other . Before our meal was over the tourist swore and screamed at the waitress , '' learn to speak American ! '' In perfect English, the waitress replied, '' I do not know such language as American ; I only speak French and English ''. My husband spoke with her and we learned that same tourist had been in their restaurant two days before and caused a young teenage waitress to break down in tears because he verbally abused her , threw his plate , cup and saucer and glass down on the floor, did not tip the waitress . Then asking for the manager he made a further scene suggesting the teenage waitress should be fired before he left . I apologized because I myself spoke very little French ( learned in high school but very many years had pssed since then . I understood it a bit better )
. She smiled and said, '' You know how to say, hello, how are you today, please and thank you in French and your pronunciation tells most of us working here that you are not fluent in French . Most of us are bilingual so we switch to English . ''

#43 - Did you know that the "Salem Witch Trials" DID NOT!!!! take place in Salem? They Happened in Salem Village not Salem. Several years later the residents were so ashamed of what had happened there that they changed the name of the town to - Danvers, which still exists today while the town of Salem cashes in on their notoriety.

#31 Correction - Hawaii was ALREADY a monarchy before 1870; U.S.A. forced the the abdication of the queen in 1895. Hawaii, a sovereign nation, was taken by threat and force.
