Just bought one of these. Wanted a hatch but unfortunately they aren't building hatches again until Nov. Really actually wanted a Corolla but couldn't get my hands on one.

Really happy with it so far. Done just over 500km combined city and highway and still have over 100km left in the tank on less than a 3/4 fill of the tank the dealer gave. I'm actually really disappointed they didn't fill the tank plus they duped me a day of rego.

It handles really well, is very comfortable and is extremely spacious for a car of it size. Lots of headroom for my 6'2" frame unlike the TL Magna I just sold to the wreckers. Had to duck my head pretty bad to get into it.

The i30 also has plenty of clearance for enter/exit driveways and those pesky concrete stoppers in shopping centres.

Road noise is a bit loud but I suspect that is more due to the budget tyres on it.

Has all the sensors and safety features you need. All in all one of the best value for money vehicle on the market in Australia right now.

In Australia, currently;
i30 sedan base model, $31, 990 drive-away.
i30 sedan hybrid base model, $35, 990 drive-away.
For the additional $4, 000, for what the hybrid offers over the base, seems to be money worthwhile spending. Especially with it having the fully independent rear suspension in additional to the hybrid technology.

From what I have seen in other reviews of Hyundai/Kia models, they have a overly intrusive speed alert/safety warning systems that will frequently beep at you and CANNOT be switched off permanently but have to be switched off EVERY TIME you start the car! This comes very close to being a deal breaker when considering these vehicles for purchase.

Just out of interest, any idea how far this hybrid can go on electric mode only, on a flat road? Maybe 1 km??
Thanks for the great review. The performance of 9.34s is very decent for what it is, and much better than what I was expecting. It is a little bit quicker than the 9.69s for the i30 sedan base model. The braking test is interesting. Wet conditions make a massive difference, with it being 51.18m (more than half the distance of a 100 metres sprint race) and 3.85s. The i30 base model, in the dry did 38.57m, 3.03s. It very much annoys me when people tail gate closely especially in the wet, not understanding in their aggressive mind that they have no hope if there was an emergency braking situation required. Cheers.
PS The hybrid also has a fancier twin climate control set-up rather than the single zone dials of the i30 base model. A good positive for the base model is having a full size spare tyre. But overall the hybrid would be very tempting.

Just wondering, can the false vent to the right somehow be used to attach a phone mount to?

Toyota were making hybrids when Hyundai was a laughable brand.
