The elderly population lose their balance frequently. For them to perform their self care safely, they need to have good balance.
As Occupational therapists, we need to help them improve their balance. In this video, I am going to show you sitting exercises to improve their balance and prevent falls.
Here are the exercises:
1. Hand Pumping
2. Ankle pumping
3. Looking up and down- moving your head up and down
4. head turning side to side
5. neck circles
6. Reaching side to side
7. Reaching Up and Down
8. Sit to Stand

Im not senior, but i just had the epely maneuver done for severe dizziness that was episodic. Now i am just trying to retrain my brain and body again with balance and reconnection to the brain.
I was just sitting here and feeling really nauseaus. This has helped me to concentrate and not feel dizzy and sick.

I’d just like to say thank you for sharing this video. My husband practices this before standing up and walking practice. Although he is not senior, he had a brainstem surgery not long ago and has a hypotension issue at the moment.

Thank you for making this video. My elderly mother fell a few months ago and has been in PT. Now her time in PT has ended and this is a great video for her to use to continue improving her balance.

I have just had a terrible fall on my buttocks and back. Thank The Lord I haven't broken any bones. But I prescribed pain killers when I strong 💪 enough I will do your exercises. Thanks!
