Sensible Secondhand Reviews: 2013 Seat Ibiza (6J) 1.4 Toca - Lloyd Vehicle Consulting

Welcome to Sensible Secondhand Reviews, the series where we take a sensible secondhand car worth between £1000 and £5000 and put it through its paces in a very straightforward manner! This time we have a 2013 Seat Ibiza 1.4 Toca of the fourth generation (6J) variety, which is yet another extremely rational secondhand buy. Be prepared for surprisingly cramped rear space, rather handsome styling, traditional Volkswagen switchgear, a pleasant driving experience and very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then!

Thanks sir for a wonderful review of the Seat Ibiza Toca. I forgot to mention my wife calls it Itsy. She loves it to bits and I must admit its a great little fun car on a twisty back road. Cambelts you do have to watch for on this engine due to plastic tensioners. So I'm going every 5 years or 40000 miles to be safe. But otherwise its quite a good engine for performance and economy. Another stellar review sir.

I think that the interior is lovely and the seats look comfortable. The door mirrors are very edgy. I believe that every incarnation of the Seat Ibiza had really great styling. The Mk1 looked like nothing else and the stylish Mk2 had a very flowing practical shape, again, like nothing else especially in its rear styling.
The Cordoba was compact and gorgeous.
This 2013 model test has opened my eyes to the Ibiza because there seem to be some very very fruity engine options available with loads of bhp.
Sounded like you liked the gearchange quality particularly, Sir.

I really enjoyed this review. I had a couple of Mk5 Leon's which were brilliant, however upon asking for deals on an Ibiza when it was time to change, the PCP deals were considerably more expensive than a VW Polo which is essentially the same car, hence changing to the cheaper VW!

Excellent review Sir, I do like this generation of Ibiza, a much better quality interior compared to the Mark 2 Fabia of the same era which we once owned. Got to admit that's the first time I have seen remote stereo controls like that in a VAG Group Car.

I thought that the Toca made some reference to the Touring Cars that SEAT had quite the presence in with the Toledo, Leon's and alike in BTCC and WTCC forms?

I remember our local Seat dealer selling these in 2015 /16 3dr 1.4 for £8k new ! I was put off by the white seat covers they had . Wish I had popped down now and snapped one up . Instead I got a Polo 2007 1.4 for £2800 !

I owned a 2nd (?) generation Ibiza between 2002-2010. The first one based on the Polo platform with the 1.4 MPI 8v engine. I was in the right demographic for SEAT ownership, being 24 years old at the time. Suited me perfectly.
Would I buy another SEAT Ibiza? Maybe not. I just don't like the interior plastics/design of the modern VAG cars. Furthermore, I'm now won over by Korean and Japanese cars now.

I had a 2015 Ibiza Cupra 1.4 DSG and it was a quick fun car but it drank oil and wore out front tyres fast.
I was told the 1.4 engine was a problem so I got rid of it quickly which was a shame as it looked nice.

I am currently running a Mazda 3, 08 plate, had it a few years, looking for something a bit smaller length wise due to parking space limitations. Any recommendations for a budget up to £6k mark?

For me, "fake stitching" somehow succinctly told me all I need to know about this car. Not for me, thank you. But thank you, of course, for the video.
