Honestly, ive been working out for 7+years and i cant do ppl, 1) it either makes your shoulders or chest lag behind and 2)im still a bit sore from the last workout, and honestly im not gonna give my all if im sore

I tried PPL for months but I found the push and pull days too much for one workout... Also i was weaker on my biceps, triceps and shoulders. Switched to a bro split and getting stronger every week. Also it's more fun imo

When people ask me what they should do to get started working out and I always tell them to do this for a couple of weeks because it’s so simple

PPL splits require great conditioking beforehand. Overtraining can lead to diminished gains, losses instead of gains, or serious injuries.

PPL is good for beginners because they have newbie gain aka natural steroid. When it comes to second year of training when those effect are gone and some weak point muscle group will appear (most commonly are arms). That is when you have to readjust the program -PPLA, Anorld split, bro split.

So much truth to this. I've been doing the "Bro" split for the past 12 years and have continued to put on substantial size. The biggest issue with this split is that if you miss a day, then you're ultimately going 2 weeks without training a certain muscle group, but on the flip side, workouts are much shorter compared to PPL splits. My workouts average about 45~ minutes, with the exception being legs which takes a little more than an hour. PPL split workouts on average take longer because more muscles are getting hit, therefore workouts usually exceed an hour, if not longer. Also Jeff Nippard made a video a while back talking about how much volume you should hit and referenced an article saying that if your weekly volume per muscle group is about 15-20 sets, then you're fine. Ultimately it comes down to what works for you and what you believe you can adhere to. Nice video.

May I recommend natural hypertrophy’s “gentleman split” a body part split will all the good parts of a bro split and none of the bad.

I haven’t done a Bro splits, but I do know you get great recovery time. Which is perfect for muscle growth

Bro split actually helped me as a beginner

Been training PPL for 3 years and have just changed to the bro split, the key is to do a big compound exercise at the start of every single workout, legs: squats, back: deadlifts, chest: bench, shoulders: military press, arms: weighted chin ups and weighted dips.

To me I think the split depends a lot on your energy level. For instance if you’re in a calorie surplus you can probably directly hit nearly all your muscle groups 2-3 times a week. But if you’re in a calorie deficit I’d personally rather expend my energy full focus into 2 muscle groups max at a time. Plus it saves time.

Exactly. It’s impossible to hit a muscle once a week, well unless your doing pure iso lifts. Direct indirect effect. It’s all about exercise selection. If I have a tricep day yes tricep day I will always start with close grip presses or reverse grip bench and end with dips. Same with biceps, 100% start off with dead hang chins which hits my upper back. I have always split lower training for years. Quad day and a posterior chain day with lots of snatch grip hip hinging variations which hits the upper back. Man this whole notion of body parts splits being bad is ridiculous. I honestly think it’s for click bait or e book sales from these young folks. My favorite split is chest, back, rest, posterior chain day, rest, arms, lower, rest, repeat. Sometimes a day off b/w arms and legs. Remember arm day always starts with close grips and chins. I toss in delt work on any given day. Laterals on chest day, read on back and laterals on arm day. Always a day off after a heavy upper back day, snatch grip deadlift day and squat day. Vital for naturals imho. That split above as well as the DC two way split if I train 3 days a week

My buddy and I were doing push, pull legs, but on push days, my shoulders and tris were overdone, and he had problems with his biceps on pull days, so we just swapped a couple exercises to different days. It's been 5 weeks and it's been a game changer so far. Reps and strength for basically everything went up along with feeling better overall.

i gained most of my size and muscle while doing bro split i think as bro split might not burn as much calories as a push or pull workout it helps skinnier dudes to stay a bit more in caloric surplus while giving enough time to recover ultimately becoming stronger and bigger

Once your in the gym consistently for a while especially with a open mind you see it’s much more deeper then what most of these “influencers” say it is

No, you can literally adequately train a muscle with the proper proportion of volume to compensate for less frequency. There are a plethora of studies on this.

I have been on both, did the push pull when I was going to the gym 6x a week.
Now days I go 3times a week. Just to main gain.
I do the bro split.
Chest back legs
But when i go to workout in those 3 days I hit failure, I literally make sure I cant walk out on leg day.
And Im still the same.
So yes I agree.
