On my 1090 r I put the GPR furore. Only 350 eur. Shaved over 4kg off the bike weight and together with a sport air filter the bike is significantly sharper when opening the throttle and consumes 10% less. With the DB killer is slightly louder than the stock pipe and just perfect. You can remove the dB killer in no time but then the bike is just too loud. Anyway the GPR is the main reason why I have not felt the need to upgrade my bike to the 1290 r 21 which I find more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable than the 890

I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses their wrenches as a musical instrument 😂😂

You did what I want to undo. I just bought a ZZR1400 PS with Akrapovcs that had the baffles removed, when I start the bike, my neighbour screams, although it's more like a screatch. She obese and looks like the back end of jabba the hut, just thought I'd add that usefull infomation.

Why didnt you just drill the aluminum rivets out to remove the endcap? Seemed like a waste to ruin a carbon fiber piece with holes. Aluminum rivets are cheap.

Looks easy was worried about drilling into carbon though after spending £1000 on the exhaust, its a must do sounds much better and is easier than drilling out all the rivets on the end can like Ricardo on youtube did thanks brilliant ill have a good, will need the rubber plugs though cheers Chris

Hi Smokey, I like your videos and especially the comparison between the GS 1250 and the Ktm 1290R. I have a 1290S.

you can also just drill the rivets out and pop the end cap off so u dont have to drill holes in the cover

definitely a clever move if you are working on getting more driving bans because of the noise like we in Austria already have on some streets... Anyhow i adore your bike and i have to admit it was a funny film ;-)

Good to see you did it easiest and fastest without any issues mate, you saved a lot of work believe me xD
Sad to hear you crashed and being injured on another bike, get well soon to enjoy the beast.

Nice work with the muffler. You didn´t follow Ricardos example with the rivets and hard work. Instead you did it the easy way(like I did 6 months ago)
Yes, an Akra costs a lot of money but not so much more than Remus/Arrow (1200€ against1000€) and I must underline that it sounds much better(a big deep tone) than the Remus Hexacone I had on my 1190 R which had a more noisy/metallic tone, and yes I know it is up to each and one to choose which is the nicest. The inner space in the new Akra is a new development with 2 interior db-killers that, despite you remove the two outer, keeps the sound "muffled" in a sophisticated way. Most aftermarket mufflers just "crying out loud".../Thank you Smokey

Hello, have you replaced the sealing ring on the original exhaust with the Scorpio exhaust?

I did this today. The screws under the carbon were welded. How did you remove them?

I have a bike just like yours with the same akrapovic exhaust, I did everything like in the video and now I can't remove the pipes, it looks like they are welded.
They don't even move.
You in the video, you turn a little and they come right off.
