Preveza, Greece (Epirus)

Preveza is a charming port town located on the Ionian Sea in the Epirus region. The city is famous for its ancient sites, including Nicopolis, the Acheron River, and the Necromanteion (Oracle of the Dead). During the summer, the port of Preveza is bustling with boats and yachts, while the cafes are filled with people. The charming streets of Preveza are adorned with beautiful mansions from the 19th century that boast incredible architecture and homes with traditional features. The cobbled alley of Seitan Bazaar is a popular spot in the town, with its traditional "ouzeri" taverns. Preveza is home to several significant Christian temples, including the Agios Nikolaos and Agios Athanasios churches and the metropolitan temple of Agios Charalambos, which has exceptional paintings and a wooden carved, gold-plated iconostasis. Next to the church is the Venetian Clock Tower, a city landmark built in 1752. Greek taverns, cafes, and narrow streets portray the typical Mediterranean appearance that you would expect from an old town. The large quay with the beautiful neoclassical buildings creates the perfect setting for relaxing walks. A very idyllic environment is made with the combination of nature and vegetation and the traditional taverns. One can enjoy many beautiful beaches and other natural sites while visiting Preveza Prefecture.
