The Rise and Fall of Adidas Boost: What Happened?

Adidas' Boost technology changed the world of footwear as we know it. I would even argue that since the invention of Nike's Air technology, there hasn't been an innovation this significant. The hype for Adidas boost was so high at one point that it was looking like Adidas was going to take up a large portion of Nike's market share. Over the past few years Boost technology has gotten old and isn't as popular as it once was (among sneakerheads at least). So what happened? Well, in this video we'll be taking a closer look at the history of Adidas boost and why it declined.

Your history of boost and the ultra boost is missing some important things.
1. BASF originally worked with Puma to refine the foam and design midsoles, then somehow Adidas swooped in and signed an exclusivity deal. You can read about this in the lawsuit.
This was corrected in the Ultraboost 2.0, when they introduced a redesigned continental branded outsole without the rounded tips.
The original ultraboost flew under the radar as it was a top of the market running shoe until Kanye wore it.

Adidas is sitting on Gold, boost is still by far the best cushioning but they lack what nike is : innovation, great designing, marketing, And creativity

I own a pair of Ultraboost 2019 and they are so comfortable with proper grip and by far the best shoes I have ever owned. Totally happy with Ultraboost. I don't think it has fallen.

I own two pairs of Ultraboost. I don’t care about the hype at all; I just find them really comfortable for my flat feet. They are literally the only pairs of shoes that I can wear all day without my feet feeling any pain!!

Funny how they're still selling thousands of pairs a week. Don't think the redesign in 2019 was much of an improvement, they fit a lot narrower.

The boost did some serious head turns for Adidas and I feel that Adidas just took one concept way too far ahead that the juice ran out. It could have easily built multiple brand lines but then again.

A big factor you also forgot to mention is that during the first generation of Ultra Boosts, Adidas partnered with many well known brands within the street fashion community for their own special collabs. The consortium pairs featured brands like Sneakers N Stuff, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Reigning Champ, Wood Wood, etc etc and were all highly coveted and Adidas' willingness to partner with brands within the community helped make it more quickly accepted.

I wear a variety of brands. Adidas is one of my casual favs. Honestly, boosts are probably the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn on a day to day basis. That's just my opinion.
