Jaw surgery Case# 112: Ana -Class II, Open bite

Ana came to our center to correct her open bite and Class II bite after a long orthodontic preparation.
Dr. Hernandez Alfaro performed a bimaxillary surgery that consisted of a mandibular advancement, centering and rotation osteotomy and a maxillary advancement and rotation, in addition to an advancement mentoplasty to achieve ideal facial projection.
Although her recovery was long and she came to think that she would not like her results, Ana is happy with her new image, and she can eat normally for the first time.

Do all jaw surgeons know about rotating the jaw, or do some surgeons only move the jaw forward and backward to fix the underbites and overbites, and ignore whether rotation is needed?

what kind of surgery needs to be done? i see that doing only bimax can sometimes make the asymmetry of the hemimandibular hyperplasia worse,
can that be done in one procedure or do you need multiple

and do you have by chance a patinet that needed surgery for class 2 but also had hyperplasia of one side

How do you deal with bimaxillary protrusion? Do you extract teeth or try to camouflage it by bringing the chin forward? I have not seen any of your patients with bimax protrusion. Usually they all have retrusion before the surgery.
