I grew up in Dallas, right down the street from the State Fairgrounds. We lived off of Swiss Ave maybe 12 or so blocks away. My little Brother Mark, who passed away last summer, him and I would go here for half the day for $3.50 or so dollars in the mid 70s, and you could ride all the rides for free. We did that a few times. Back then, for a few dollars, you could go also walk up to Big Tex, pay the man, and they would let you use a small handheld mic to speak into the loudspeaker that was in Big Tex's head to say hello to everyone, or give a shout-out to your family, friends or GF or BF. I remember it being expensive to be able to do this. Very fun to see Dave here, walking the same grounds I did as a kid, 45+ years ago when I was 10 or 11 years old.
