Rigid is a great quality homeowner brand. Milwaukee is for professionals to rely on day in and day out, no matter the abuse they’ve taken for however long. Union Carpenter here by the way.

Now I'm a rigid guy, and I have never had any of my Ridgid tools that I've used cut out like that on me, and I'm on some Ridgid sites on Facebook and they complained that the job Max likes to cut out under heavy load, and I've never had that problem, plus I have the brushless Gen 5 hammer drill, and Nothing Stops that thing, on the other hand I have owned in Milwaukee, not the newer Generation stuff, and they are fantastic tools without a doubt

I love this comparison in my line of work Milwaukee is king. The cost is in between hilti and ryobi. Milwaukee just has that power when drilling into tile porcelain granite stone cement because I can't use a corded hammer drill or a sds due to breakage. The m18 fuel is king for me. I drill 42 holes a day in my glass installations and this is the best hammer I have ever had. Roy I not powerful, dewalt is stolen everywhere and doesn't have the punch I need, makita brushless burned out on me 2nd day of use so I stuck with milwaukee.

You know what though. That Ridgid looked like it operated smooth. Not a bad drill. I would definitely go Ridgid over other drills ive seen.
Milwaukee and Dewalt are your jobsite go to, but for the guy doing side work or working on his home often I think the Ridgid would hold up

Ridgid is a good brand but the overload protection on their hammer drills suck just like Ryobi drill as well

Milwaukee discontinued the side handle for the M18 FUEL Hammer Drill.
Planned obsolescence for sure. They really love their customers. Buy the
De Walt instead, it is very close in ability from what I've read.

If you do more research ridgid and Milwaukee are made by the same manufacturer, Techtronic Industries (TTI). Your comparing Chevy to Cadillac. Ridgid is just an exclusive brand for Home Depot. Home Depot basically contracted TTI for their power tool line and said we like the Milwaukee line you guys produce can you make us something similar. The Ridgid warrantee comes out of Home Depot’s pocket. TTI is not going to make ridgid better than Milwaukee because thats their bread and butter, they will always be similar but the edge will always go to Milwaukee every time. Speed, weight, durability, Performance and ergonomics will always be slightly better in the Milwaukee. TTI also makes Ryobi (cheeper brand made with cheeper parts) so they can hit a wider demographic of consumers. (Milwaukee, Ridgid, and Ryobi) The manufacture will always make a high grade (Milwaukee) mid grade (Ridgid) and a low grade (Ryobi).
