This RIDGID 18V Brushless Reciprocating Saw is 100% compatible with all RIDGID 18V batteries, although you will get the best performance with larger Max Output batteries. OMG! Totally did not expect you to literally blow up the tool! lol. Well thats one way to do a heavy duty teardown. You just earned yourself a like!

Have had mine for a year and 4 months. Worked it to death in construction and demo. Never cut out. Even metal. Everything from 5/8ths anchor bolts to 2 1/2" fire suppressant water lines. Love it.

I was not prepared for the explosion test lol

Here at WorkshopAddict, when a tool doesn't blow us away, we blow it away.

Tks for beating it up. Think I'll take one. Why so many left orbital out is beyond me.

Given I already have various octane batteries including the 9Ah, I feel like going ahead and getting the octane recip saw while it's still available is not a bad idea. What do you think?

These new max output tools seem to be a big let down. I recently sold off all my ridgid 18v tools for new Milwaukee ones I don’t regret that decision especially after they abandoned the octane line and brought out this new 3 tier product line that just doesn’t hold up.

Should have tried the 4Ah that it came with. I'm wondering if the octane battery had something to do with the cut out? I'll stick with my x4 and 5x for now but seriously thinking about moving from orange to red.

Have the R8647B and use it with regular 4 amp batteries with a diablo carbide 3 tpi demo blade 3 blades for $31, the saw doesn't bog down at all, I did some research and it's best to use the Diablo carbide blades they're easily the best, spending money on the Diablo carbide blades saves you time, energy and money because they last longer and don't break. Do not cheap out on blades.
I tested the saw and the blades cutting out a tree stump at home, I have 4 4 amp regular batteries, each 4 amp battery will last like 25 mins with max force on the recip saw, I used almost 3 4 amp batteries to completely remove the stump, the tool heats up but it never bogs down or shuts down, I went full force through the stump and the dirt no bogging down I was extremely impressed 👌

I'm not so sure it cut out, as much as shut itself down. I mean, it seems more than powerful enough to get through that wood and keep going through the end even if the material does start to pinch. Kinda seems like the same aggressive safety bullshit my old brushed Gen5x had 🤔
Which, I'd consider more of a minor inconvenience than anything, but of course I almost never use a recip saw to make money.

I have the octane but I never had to put it in such situation... maybe is time to have him to do some exercise to find out its capabilities

Great vid brother. I think the ultimate test for a sawzall is cutting out a sheetrock ceiling with the front of the saw pointed up towards the ceiling , that dust is so fine it has killed many of my saws. Time will tell I guess.

Uh oh...the mullet is really good point about using an octane 9 a h battery as opposed to a Max Output 8 a h battery... they may not be the same and it could be more powerful with the 8 a h...or not... we all have to see when the max output batteries become available but I was thinking the same thing when you put the nine amp hour on there
