I have had around 7 of these vehicles from 2003 all the way to this 2013. They all tend to have a couple things in common.. Here is what they are.

I would rather have the Ford escape than a crappy GM product like the Chevy Equinox or GMC Arcadia which from my experience are very very unreliable.

I had a Ford Escape Titanium and drove it for years. Ran like a dream. Never a single part replaced other than oil & air filters.

I own a 2016 escape and have had no problems. I think if you research the escape, a vast majority sold are still on the road. So if you bought one that has not been serviced or not taken care of (from the looks of the interior) with a noticeable noise engine I'd say it's not the vehicles fault.

To this day, I drive my 2007 Ford Escape with 157, 000 miles (191, 000 miles now, Dec. 2023). I bought it when it was 3 years used with 50, 000 miles. The only 3 big issues I’ve had in these almost 12 years with me: Transmission broke down about 2 years ago. I had it fixed right away; Starter broke down; steering fluid was leaking. This car has saved me thousands of dollars and everything works great. I’m driving it until the wheels fall off. (edited to change mileage).

If this guy only knew about cars. The escape is one of the best cars ever made. These are the people that mislead people.

He could have said the same info in 2 minutes.

Well, considering you're buying them as-is, and despite being detailed it's still filthy inside, you know it's had the crap run out of it. Ford Escape is quite a good vehicle. I'm a former Ford tech and my family owns quite a few Escapes of various model years.

I have owned 3 escapes: 2015, 2017, and 2019. I bought all three used and have never had a problem of any significance on any of them. Honestly, they are the most reliable cars I have ever owned. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 2011 Ford Escape with 200, 000 miles on it. It runs fantastic. Never had any issues at all with it.Replaced the air conditioning unit after 170k miles but that's all besides standard oil changes etc.

I purchased a 2013 Ford Escape new, with less than 500 miles on it. Today in 2022 it has 160, 000 miles, and is running as well as the day I bought it. The only thing I have ever had to do is oil changes and one set of break pads and rotors. Maybe I have a diamond in the rough?

Bought a used 2013 Escape in 2015... to this day runs like a dream. Got a couple coworkers who also own them and love em.

Just bought a certified pre owned 2018 escape with the 1.5 eco boost. Traded in my 2017 Hyundai Tucson for it. Hands down a far superior vehicle to the Tuscan. I absolutely love my escape.

How many miles were on that Escape? If you bought it from auction, the previous owner must’ve run that one to the ground and didn’t take good care of it. My family owns 3 Escapes and all 3 have been great for us!

Well, you can do it all the other hackers do is put your code reader on it and erase the codes and sell it for a higher price and tell everybody it’s an OK car isn’t that what you guys do for a living?

Learned this the hard way. Less than a month later went back to dealership with a full page list of problems and he flat out told me that if i didn't want problems then i shouldn't have bought used. My jaw dropped when he said that and the worst part was HE WAS THE OWNER!

His experience is not typical. The Escape has a terrific service record.

Most of the sound you’re hearing is the high pressure fuel pump used in direct injection engine. It’s common and present in basically every one of them.
