Wisconsin authorities confirm kayaker faked his own death

Investigators say Ryan Borgwardt faked his own death by staging a kayaking accident on a Wisconsin lake and is alive in eastern Europe. NBC News' Shaquille Brewster reports that Borgwardt provided video proof of life and now says he hopes to return home.

How awful for his family. Not only did he fake his death and put them through his loss, he then gets found out and humiliates his wife on a global level. What an absolute loser. If the wife is smart she should file for divorce immediately. She deserves full custody....he abandoned them, He doesn't deserve Christmas with his kids. He is a selfish coward of the highest order. I feel so hurt, angry, and sad for his wife and their kids. The amount of pain and grief they must be suffering because that person chose to be a coward, chose to abandon his family for a new life. What type of person would fake their own death versus get a divorce? A narcissist. Karma will and is taking care of his new life.

Let the law do its part. He faked his death and committed life insurance fraud. That IS a crime.
