Just a heads up Trent, when you see a Seal poking it's head up looking right at you, just know that Seal is a look out and it has friends hiding underneath the water out of eye sight. If you sit real still at the edge if the waterline, do not make a move just be frozen in place like driftwood, patience, then you will see that Seal stick his head up closer to you each time! Be still do not keep them see you move. Soon the whole bunch will be right at your feet rolling in the surf sometime just a few feet from you. Sometimes just inches! Last time on the Southern Oregon Coast I had at least 5 almost touching my boots! Some just laying on their backs with their big black eyes that reflect your image and surroundings. It's amazing to be so close to nature, a gift you can never forget! Just so you know! 😊 But it takes patience and I doubt Millie would hold still for that amazing experience.

For me, AK summers have always been worth the long winters. Plus there are tons of things to do in the winter. You'll find a lot of folks are very active in the winter up here. My childhood was full of amazing outdoor winter activities. I'm a hermit now, but I still love the winter. There is no place like AK. There are beautiful places but our vibe is just different. Your spirit feels at peace in a way you never knew it could!
