You said you are to lazy to look it up but you are not to lazy to throw 2 straps. You can never have to much securement in my opinion

We have the same thing in Europe 🇬🇧 flat trailers with twistlocks if the box is empty I used to chuck some straps over just to stop them bouncing about
Take it easy bud 👍

I personally think you are a smart man. I would do the same thing. It’s too late when something happens and one of those fall off a truck and we’ll you know the damage it would cause. Great video thanks for sharing!!

There is no extra securement required whatsoever same as with a cargo chassis for sea containers only twist locks are required best to use zip ties on the handles once locking them in place that way there’s no way they can come on down themselves

I’m sure that the locks themselves are legal. But just because something is legal doesn’t make it right. Example 9, 999lb machine two chains and binders is legal but is it right? I’m a tow truck operator and my boss won’t let us move a trailer, container, or combination unit unless we’re able to see inside. Flatbeds lowboys etc if it’s not legal or to our satisfaction we don’t move it. Four things can happen they make it legal we make it legal (they pay extra labor charge), trailer or load gets dropped they can move it or we can(more money) or we leave them sitting there broken down. I’m thankful for this because I’ve had to do sketchy shit and lay out a lot of money for lawyer(s) for it to not get on my license.

it all depends on how the twist locks are welded to the flatbed frame.. on intermodal chassis they are welded at the end of a thick square steel steel bar..

Fmcsa 393.126 tells you everything you need to know. Either way if the box is loaded or empty, the locks are legal

In Texas I have never seen any additional restaurants on a container. I live not to far from the port of Houston. I see a lot of container cargo.👍🇨🇱

If 3 straps are legal, then 4 or 5 are as right as rain! I mean, you're hauling all them extra straps, chains and binders around, why not take a few extra minutes and air them out! And if I had the twist locks on my trailer, I'd be just as lazy as you and just throw some straps. Gotta exercise the throwing arm anyway.

Those look like EXPLOSIVE placards on that can in the picture.. according to Federal guidelines it HAS to be secured to the trailer by the CAR BLOCKERS...civil service employees responsible for load securement both IN and ON trailers using the drivers equipment to do so..

Can locks pop up from the floor and lock the container once the container is lowered over them..

Alot of companies pulling containers on container chassis's, make the drivers run zip ties thru the little holes in the twist locks, so they don't rattle to unlocked position...
