Jonathan Gorard talks about the formal correspondence between the Wolfram Model and ZX-Calculus at the Cambridge Quantum Computing Seminar.

Abstract: The Wolfram model is a discrete spacetime formalism based on abstract rewriting systems defined over hypergraphs, which can in turn be represented in terms of double-pushout rewriting systems and (selective) adhesive categories. We illustrate how Wolfram model multiway systems, which form the basis of our conjectural formulation of quantum mechanics, are naturally equipped with a dagger-symmetric monoidal structure that is compatible with the standard monoidal product of ZX-diagrams, and therefore discuss how the Wolfram model may be thought of as constituting an embedding space for the space of possible ZX-diagrams.

I have said for a while I think the Wolfram Model has cracked, in my opinion, many issues I have had with physics and this is another example of how far reaching it is. They haven't solved everything but its ability to unite with our massive body of information and experiments so far is down right exciting. In labs and classrooms around the world students and teachers are studying this and realizing the power of a computational model instead of our current way of doing things. I am always slow and behind the progress by weeks or even months but it has been a great joy studying this way of seeing the universe. I see a Noble Prize in the future for Jonathan!

Mr. Jonathan, Completely grateful for your lecture. I like to remind the Wolfram Team during the Live Physics Project working Sessions, that your use of language is like clear water. A lot of work ahead : for me: the so called “low lying fruit” foliage is intimidating: full of opportunities to spend lifetimes on one branch.

Please remind yourself, Mr. Wolfram, and The Wolfram Teams to take a moment and celebrate/be grateful. None of you have taken a break.

Your accomplishments have released thousands of years Spatiotemporal quests from their unclarity. Sincerely, Yahya

Brilliant as usual. The wolfram model is incredibly exciting but it has taken me months to comprehend it !!!!
This linking with ZX-Calculus is genius! Surprising!!!

Jonathan is modest ....
This work is truly exciting and we all know it.
My intuition is once they crack Particles they will have, in my mind, unified the two big models in physics! GR/SR - Quantum Mechanics!

I am an economist. I would like to know which impact this kind of models have on the common citizen.
