The P-51 Mustang is an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II and the Korean War, among other conflicts.

The initial P-51 was developed by North America Aviation in the United States for sale to British forces.

After replacing the engine with Rolls-Royce's Merlin, it made a big difference to Mustang.

Mustang became the main force of the U.S. Army Air Force for its excellent high altitude capabilities and enormous range of aircraft.

Mustang didn't have great solo combat capabilities, but good flying performance, low production costs, and long air time made it a hero of the World War II sky.

During World War II, Mustang destroyed 5000 aircraft and 4000 vehicles while it produced 15,000 and lost 2500.

Tom Cruise also owns Mustang, and Top Gun: Maverick's final flight scene was actually shot with his aircraft.
