Suhrawardi - The Master of Illumination

Suhrawardi is the Master of Illumination. We should not be confused about the other two Suhrawardis. On this video I discuss Suhrawardi al-Ishraq who constructed his own philosophy in the pillars of Sufism and mystical philosophy. His epistemology is no longer based upon rationalism or discursive philosophy, but upon mystical intuition (dhawq). His philosophy is called Hikmat al-Ishraq (Ishraqi Philosophy) as the title of his magnum opus.

Sorry, this video has not taken a farther step to dig Suhrawardi’s ideas deeper because it is still an introduction for us to be acquainted with Suhrawardi the Master of Illumination. Many things pertaining to his life, in particular his spiritual and intellectual journey, are significant to know before we try to read his brilliant and sophisticated ideas.

I feel the music in the BG, maintains and leads the listener into the flow of the main ideas through the video.
