The world has gone mad! All of America, Europe and most of Asia has been united under 3 different tyrannical superpowers. All so mad that simple human needs like freedom and thinking have been degraded to nothing. But the world isn't fully lost because small resistance still exists in the territories who miraculously kept the superpowers out of their lands.

The idea that the delusion of the INGSOC totalitarian parties made them paper tigers is actually pretty reasonable. What's great about the 1984 book is that you trust nothing you hear, for all we know free nations could be bearing down on London during the last chapter of the book. This might be more cannon then we see.

The speed he does this at actually makes a lot of sense. The war was just a reason to keep people oppressed in 1984. Them actually having to fight real armies and failing makes sense

As brutal and terrifying The Party was in the book, the idea of Oceania’s military being such a disjointed paper tiger that all sense of cohesion just shatters in the face of some light tanks is both funny and cathartic.
Not to mention, it’s also quite a plausible scenario.

Only airstrip one really fulfilled the totalitarian super-state role by having fortified coastal and divisions in every single state block. The others seemed to have fallen very easily, except the fact some front lines were stacked up

There is a theory that Oceania is just Britain and the rest of the world is normal and the oceanian government is shooting missiles at its own people. That could be a cool mod or alternate history. Edit: fixed some grammar.
