Panicked Trump Begs Judge To Delay Fraud Trial
Показать описание
Donald Trump's legal team is now asking the judge overseeing his fraud trial in New York to postpone the start date because, as they claim in their new filing, a case of this magnitude should not begin "in chaos." It isn't immediately clear what that statement even means, but the trial is set to start in less than a month, and a motion of this magnitude should have been filed weeks ago if they were really having concerns. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Donald Trump's legal team filed a motion in court yesterday to delay the upcoming fraud trial that he is facing in New York. That is set to begin on October 5th, so less than a month away. And Trump's lawyers finally realized uhoh we're, uh, not exactly ready for this. The filing is about as dumb as it gets, but their legal rationale is not completely stupid. Let me explain what happened last week. Both Trump's lawyers and the prosecutors, they both filed motions for summary judgment, which of course would mean that they would immediately either find him guilty or not guilty, and then they're just haggling over a price. At that point, unless he's found not guilty, then it's over. The judge has yet to rule on either of those motions. So Trump's lawyers say, Hey, we know we're supposed to go to trial October 5th, but what if, what if we push it back three weeks?
'cause you know, we're, we're waiting on you to, uh, you know, rule on these things that I'm sure you could rule on literally any minute now. But after that, we're gonna need like an additional three weeks for some reason. Now, again, the reasoning is not terrible there, but their argument is absolutely horrific. Here is the argument they made in their legal filing. A trial of this magnitude should not begin in chaos. The court and the defendants are entitled to know the claims and issues to be tried sufficiently in advance to prayer, adequately for trial trial. The, the court and the defendants are entitled to know the claims and issues to be tried. Do, do, do you not know why Donald Trump is facing a trial? Um, did, did you just pick up this case yesterday and you haven't read a single news story in the last five years?
Um, because if that's the case, I totally get your legal argument, but as far as I know, Donald Trump hasn't shifted up his legal team in the New York Fraud trial. So you're literally telling the judge, like, judge, first of all, this is chaos. That was your first line. Like, it can't begin in chaos. Second of all, uh, what are we doing? Like, that's their argument. They told the judge like, Hey, judge, what the hell's going on? like, what, what, what are we doing? Like, what is, what is his charges? Do we need to, um, we don't, we don't know. We don't know. We're not adequately prepared for trial. They're telling us, well, oops, like, that's on you. This did not just pop up today. You have filed plenty of motions over the last several months. You, you filed one last week and now you're telling us that you're just straight up not prepared. I don't think the judge in this case has any legal reasoning based on
The, the argument put forward by these lawyers for Trump to grant them an extension. They're trying to tell her like, we're not ready to go or trying to tell the judge, excuse me, we're not ready to go. But that's a you problem. You've had more than enough time. You are well aware of the charges. And if you are not, then congratulations. After Trump is found guilty, he can absolutely sue you for malpractice. Maybe get some of his money back because this is beyond pathetic. And this, and I know this is a big statement to make, this may be the dumbest legal argument I have ever seen a Donald Trump lawyer make in court.
