Korean Mass Wedding - Strangers Married

"South Korea's Unification Church has held a mass wedding, with 3,500 couples from 70 countries tying the knot.

The ceremony on Sunday was the first since the death of its leader and founder, Reverend Sun Myung Moon.

About 20,000 church officials and followers gathered at Cheongshim Peace Centre in Gapyeong, south of Seoul, and 7,000 of them exchanged wedding rings."*

The Unification Church in South Korea held a mass wedding of thousands of couples from 70 different countries. Some of them can't even speak each others' languages. Is this an effective way of "unification." Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

These announcers are so proud to laugh at the Biblical events. Shame on these atheists.

Well, I guess you can't argue if you can't even speak to each other at all.

Haven't these mass weddings been going on for decades? Do they last?

The fact that they reject irrational claims supported by absolutely no evidence actually made you change your mind about whatever point of agreement you had with them that initially urged you to subscribe?

My best memories from college was the time I spent with "Student Moonies". It was great because they had students from all over the world who would have "cultural nights" and talk about their country, culture, and cooked regional food.

They had no problem with the fact that I didn't believe in their religion at all. I even took a psych class that talked about "cults" and showed them my books one which had a page on "Moonies" just to mess with them :-D

I formed some great friendships though.

7000 stranger marrying at once don't seem like a dumb news...

Read it all. It only takes about 15 minutes.

John, I am currently one and have been for 25 years. Sucessfully married for 21 of those. I grew up as an athiest and was shown the way but God, as was my husband. Neither of us is the weak impressionable style of "moonie" you are thinking of. We have a lot in common and have built a life together. Freedom is a reality, expressed everyday, no one wants unwilling participants. My parents are enslaved liberals, worshiping at the feet of people like Rachel Maddow. Who is enslaved now?

I have to thank you for making me more informed.
That comment was godlike.

Are you saying I'm an idiot for being raised in a cult as a child even though I had no choice over what my parents taught me? It's more complicated than that. Human brains can be manipulated. Stupidity has nothing to do with it. If you don't understand that, I suggest you do some research. "Going Clear" by Lawrence Wright (about Scientology) would be a good start.

This is like a mass one night stand, except when you wake up you're married!

"Assert male dominance" - that's found in like 90% of religions. What a surprise.

Anyone know why you can run some youtube videos at 1.5X or 2.0X speed, but not others?
