4. Back to the Board (Vocabulary Review)

The game 'Back to the Board' is a good way for students to understand and consolidate new vocabulary, by engaging and activating them into using their wider vocabulary to describe key words.

I've done this with as many as four teams. It gets pretty wild and energetic. It also helps to have a TD to help monitor to see who gets the point. I also get the kids out of their chairs and gathered around their seated team member.

You do this in Spain, the classroom explodes with noise and boisterous laughter. Great game!

It is really interesting how students are playing with the game.
Students are working on as a team and the two students are giving the answers.
It is a good experimental for the social skills too.

There might be one problem: the low-level kids cannot give the clues while the other kids can. One of the solutions can be: give each ss a piece of copy with the words and easy explanation on so that each kid, even the low-level kids, can give the right explanation and can also help them to practice memorizing the meaning of each word.

In the reality, they will tell the two students sitting in front of the answer in their native language. Thus, she keeps saying "No cheating" though.
