Whilst the entire knee joint is replaced with an artificial joint in Total Knee Replacement, in Unicondylar or Partial Knee Replacement either the inside (medial) or outside (lateral) compartment of the knee joint is replaced with artificial parts. It is relatively a smaller surgery than TKR.
