1.) 800 grit sanding disc
2.) Scotch Brite pad
3.) Paste wax
4.) Admire

I would recomend you look up some "black oxide" solution like "black jax" or "gun blue" You spray it on and wipe it of and wash it after a few min and it will produce a nice, smooth, rust resistant, black oxide layer on the bare carbon steel.

I use Barkeepers Friend on my Stainless Steel Pots and Pans and they gleam like new. Would that work on this application?
