What is Proton?

A proton is one of the fundamental particles that make up the atom. It’s positively charged and resides in the nucleus of an atom, along with neutrons. The number of protons in an atom determines its atomic number, which in turn defines the element. For example, hydrogen atoms have one proton, helium atoms have two, and so forth.
