You want pencils with a softer lead! Look for pencils labelled B, 2B, 3B, etc. All the way to 10B, which is incredibly soft and smears liek charocoal. HB is the standard pencil hardness, typical of a regular wood pencil, then anything harder will have softer color but a stronger lead with less color outpu (anything from F, H, then H2 - H10.) Hopw this helps!!

Honestly, same. Me, I'm that one person who is awesome at hard mode but expert mode is too difficult.

Once you started to go on Expert 26 and above, you might need to raise your chart speed to 9.8 or 10.5 something around that.

This is because to allow bigger gap between each note so you know which note to press first and give it a clearer vision on the chart.

But don't worry, work on your own chart speed. But as far my experience go, higher speed is better 😁
