Explanation:

The look is representing the death of Emmett Till.
Emmett was a fourteen-year-old boy from Chicago, who had been vacationing with relatives in Mississippi when he supposedly made a remark to the White woman behind the counter in the white-owned store he was at. the husband and brother-in-law of the woman came to the home of Till’s relatives in the middle of the night and abducted and lynched the boy. Till’s beaten and mutilated body was found in a nearby river three days later.
Till’s mother insisted on an open-casket funeral; she wished to use her son’s body to reveal the brutality of southern racism. The two men later admitted to killing the boy.

For those that don’t know, lynching is a very vulgar form of torture and murder. People would often be repeatedly stabbed or drowned, then revived in order to continue the torture.
