How is 500 bucks going to help some one who pays 80% of their income in rent . Pay the debt down by cutting out all the billions to corporate welfare .

What is $500 really going to do for someone who can’t afford a house

I love how they say they are taxing the big banks and insurance companies, knowing all to well that the costs will be passed onto the consumer.
Justinflation needs to stop. Thanks NDP for being sell outs.

This budget doesn't do damn thing for renters forced to pay high rents. My existing apartment chews up 40% of my net pension income and there is either absolutely no housing to be found anywhere that is reasonably priced or available within a 100km radius of where I live, and the rest of southern Ontario is just as bad. I'm retired and can't work. Yet the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says that people shouldn't be spending more than 25 - 30% of their income on housing. A one-time $500 payment won't even begin to address the problem of rents that are way out of whack. It's a cynical sop, at best. Basically, it's a 'laissez-les manger du gateau', or, 'let them eat cake' proposition, as someone once famously said and soon afterwards literally lost her head over having said it.

I even wrote the mayor of my city to air my concerns about high housing costs and got no reply.

It's pretty clear that our municipal, provincial and federal governments do not care about the citizens they pretend to represent. They only care about rich real estate developers and the rich generally. We deserve so much better, and the ballot box is broken, since the politicians who could potentially fix the problem are all on the same side - the side of the rich. Name me an honest politician, and I'll show you a bridge that's for sale in New York.

She spent more time picking out her new shoes then she did thinking about this budget. Print more, spend more and tax more
The digital currency is buried in there also, remember when they talk about it they love to use the word "programmable" Why would anyone need a programmable currency?

Stop allowing “investors” to have multiple mortgages, one mortgage per person. Someone making $25 an hour should not have 5-10 properties all on borrowed money.

With the way housing costs are going, doing the VanLife is looking a lot more realistic.

How about getting the carbon tax and fuel surcharges out of the way until Canada is back on its feet…But no cannot do that…. This governments answer is always spend more…. How about some tax cuts that would ACTUALLY help people?

Canada has sections of people starving, near bankrupt, seniors and veterans barley hanging on, still paying income tax on a pathetic pension, $1053 mthly. Less tax for CPP and OAS. But they send money to a country in a sketchy war with so many pictures are staged. Take care of Canada

It doesn't really matter when budgets balance themselves. 🤪

No wonder they want more kids by giving $10 a day childcare, because someone has to pay for those deficits. The more the merrier.

Liberals’ approach to housing remains relatively unchanged: preserve the gains made by older generations, don’t look too closely at speculators and investors, and most certainly don’t touch the profits of “mom and pop” landlords (an investor class that includes Housing Minister Ahmed Hussen, along with a not-insignificant number of other MPs).
