Hezbollah's deputy chief Naim Qassem said his forces are ready to face any ground offensive and vowed to keep up its fight against Israel. Plans for a retaliatory campaign come after Israeli airstrikes killed a string of top Hezbollah officials. Hezbollah said a new era of leadership is underway. Meanwhile, calls for international aid are mounting. The UN refugee agency said some 100,000 Lebanese have fled to Syria. The UAE has pledged to deploy an urgent relief aid package worth $100 million, while France has delivered 12 tonnes of critical medical assistance. Trent Murray reports.

(Gideon Levy: "Barbaric Glee over Nasrallah's Assassination Is a New Low for Israeli Society")
We speak with Haaretz journalist Gideon Levy in Tel Aviv, who says the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday was met with "barbaric glee" by much of Israeli society. "We are getting down and down, lower and lower, believing more and more in only one thing, mainly in killing and destructing, " says Levy, who warns that Israel is very likely to launch a ground invasion of Lebanon next and continue expanding the war as long as it enjoys unlimited U.S. support. The ongoing escalation in the region comes after a year of "only bombing and refusing any kind of diplomacy, " Levy says.
