Well done for getting a full documentary out of Rufus, not a lot out there about him

So glad you’ve done a doc on an underrated monarch who isn’t talked about enough. Makes a change from all the history documentaries about the Tudors or Romans etc that get done all the time!

I’m always amazed at the production value of these videos. This is easily something you could see on the history channel or Netflix. Well done.

not getting married, not having his own heir, these invariably made him a target, its amazing he lasted as long as he did really...

Good to see a professional documentary about a much underrated Monarch. It’s incredible that whenever the Norman line of Kings is mentioned, William ii is invariably ignored. He was in his day an important and influential figure but you wouldn’t know it.

Thank you for this detailed documentary about William Rufus. After listening about the man and his accomplishments, it seems he had many redeeming traits as a king. I would imagine had he married (as was the custom of the day) & produced an heir, he might have had a longer life. As for Henry, based on what I’ve read about him, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he was responsible for that “hunting accident.” He was after all a man of his time & status. Well done on this one!

Obviously, the royals need to stay out of the forest. Also, it needed to stay away from anyone named Tyrell because a Tyrell was associated with William's death and another Tyrell was associated with the Princes in the Tower mystery.

Truly inspiring scenes accompanying the well formed lecture. This should be shown in schools.

I've been to the Rufus stone and I wish as a 10 year old I fully understood what I was seeing

There is a Wetherspoons pub in Carlisle named after him as he ordered the building of Carlisle Castle although by the time the first stage was complete Carlisle was again in Scottish hands

Ah, yes, one of the most famous "hunting accidents" examples of history, great that Henry I was there to pick up things.

I was always hoping you'd do a documentary on William II and it didn't disappoint!

Well, even though I'm a Scot, I now feel a sort of kinship with this dude. I like his style. Gaylording about, pissing off the church, whilst still being loyal to his father and doing the whole warrior thing. I like the cut of his jib! His brother probably did kill him, they went in for that sort of thing!

Fascinating and a part of my maternal history, the Drew family which goes all the way back to William the Conqueror and his Doomsday book in 1066! I don't doubt William's homosexuality, though the church certainly would and I believe his younger brother Henry was behind William's death and why he rushed to be king in only three days! Thanks for a great documentary on William Rufus! I love the history of all the different eras of my forebears who left the UK, Scotland and England in 1721 from Ulster, Northern Ireland, landed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and fought in the Revolutionary War, one wounded at the battle of Bunker Hill!
