Antimicrobial Resistance in Humans & Animals:

While scientists are working to understand and control the Covid-19 pandemic, it is also crucial to prepare for the effect of viral pandemics on secondary bacterial infections and the resulting impact on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The Covid-19 pandemic reinforces the importance of preventative measures such as vaccination and antimicrobial treatments in maintaining human health.

The videos introduce AMR, what it is, and how it is spread (hospital-acquired, community-acquired, foods of animal origin, environmentally acquired). The take-home messages are what can be done to reduce the risk of AMR. They were produced through a partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization.

This video highlights what AMR is and the repercussions of not using anti-microbials properly. It also defines AMR and highlights that we are all a part of the solution.

The second video reiterates the definition of AMR and portrays why AMR stewardship
matters in different contexts and emphasizes a one health approach.
