John Calvin - Protestant Gnostic? pt2

Both Calvinism and Gnosticism emphasise the idea of a select group of people who are chosen for salvation with secret knowledge (Calvin called it "secret testimony"), while the rest are condemned to damnation.
How exactly did Calvin justify a 66-book Biblical canon?
And, was John Calvin logically irrational in his thinking?

Calvinism is a branch of Protestantism founded by John Calvin in the 16th century. It emphasises doctrines like predestination, total depravity of man, and salvation by grace alone. It has Gnostic characteristics.

Definitions: - Gnosticism: An early Christian sect that emphasised secret spiritual knowledge (gnosis) and dualism between spirit and matter. Gnostics saw the material world as imperfect or evil, and believed spiritual enlightenment was the way to salvation.

Key Calvinist doctrines:
Predestination - God foreordains all events
Depravity - Man is utterly unable to do good without God, a slave to evil.
Grace alone - Salvation is achieved by grace, not works.

The case for Gnostic tendencies:
- Dualism: Calvinism sees a radical separation between the perfection of God and the depravity of man. This mirrors the Gnostic dualism between spirit and matter.
- Predestination: God's will is mysterious and predetermined. This is similar to the Gnostic belief in a secret, predetermined path to enlightenment.
- Material world: The Calvinist view of total depravity sees the material world and human free will as irreparably flawed. This resonates with the Gnostic distrust of matter and free will.

- God affirmed the material world: Unlike Gnostics, Calvinists believe God created the material world good, and still affirms it. They do not reject matter itself.

Hey there, love your videos. I grew up Protestant but even I find myself having issues with them nowadays. However I wanted to bounce something off of you. I understand the qualms that people have with predestination, why would God predestine people to hell etc etc. But on the flip side of that coin one could ask why would God create people that he knew would be eventually going to hell anyway since he is all-knowing?
Seems like no matter how we slice it it becomes something heavy for us to chew on.

As a Calvinist I have to do more research to find out if your information is correct and if that is the case I would have to reject Calvinism / Calvin.

Calvinism has — so it seems — some Gnostic and Islamic tendencies if I interpret the claims of Calvinism correct.

Which is horrific if that is true.

33:29 it is not appropriate to just end to this point you mentioned, in my observation i found that when God created Adam and Eve Satan took a challenge against God as to who man would fall to the most. And in other hand we often see God encourages freewill. So since feewill is what God loves to more than applying forces, God allowed the snake or the devil to test man's love for him by exercising free will.

In regards of predestination blaming Calvin, who by the way wasn't keen on the "Turks", it is only right to look further back in time in the history of the church and we find that Calvin was influenced by St Augustine of hippo, way before the dawn of Islam.
