Can you measure horizontal but the level is flipped to 90 degrees?

If you're having iffy heating with your wall heater, where it turns off too soon, you find yourself hitting the hidden reset switch inside the upper side of your wall furnace side grill (I use a thick butter knife to hit it) you may want to check the two wires coming into your thermostat to see if they are really secure. No high voltage there. Unscrew, clean wire ends with some 0000 steel wool, make sure they wrap around each screw clockwise when you tighten them back on. Then get a level and make sure your thermostat is level, especially if there is a mercury style switch. Level not just at the top of it, but the surface of it is level, not canted out or in at the sides, top or bottom. Don't trust your wall. Read up on thermostat anticipators, which may be adjusted if your heater stays on too long, or not longer enough. Very easy to nudge those to adjust. New furnace going in? Consider changing those wires that ran from your old furnace to it's old thermostat. Your old ones might be 50 years old. I sprayed contact cleaner in our Williams Monterey style Thermostat when i cleaned the wires. We had that fire season with all that ash....

2nd red one isn't a torpedo, it has to be tapered on the ends to be considered a torpedo level, like the yellow one.
