Most academic research is useless -- because the end goal is "to publish", NOT to create a functional product. Ride the trendy wave, get grant funding, publish. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I wish there were more honest people like you. Seriously, I prefer your truth any time of the day to lies, which I have been fed in academia.

And even today, when I try to speak against academia in places like reddit or stack exchange, I got attacked.

Speaking of layoffs -- I was thinking of switching to biotech industry (or trying to), but money are getting tight across the board and most of biotech start-ups are junk anyway, I would rather wait and see.

Been watching a lot of your videos, they do make sense especially when you give real-world examples. But I think your method of delivery (and the fact that you're speaking the opposite of what many have been fed to for years, from influencers or academia), naturally gets some resistance and makes many stay in their dream world.

Academia has definitely become bloated with a lot of nonsense (cough humanities PhDs cough). PhDs can have a place in industry though (engineering consulting) and get paid much better than academics. Anyway appreciate the videos, very slowly working my way through one of your courses and learning SQL and loving it.
