To me lex luthor is this cunning billionaire who can act accordingly, say what he wants. On the drop of a hat, in a cunning way calm way because he’s confident in his power. You nailed it

for 5 seasons we see lex as this nice guy with glimpses into Lex Luthor as he gets progressively darker each season until season 6 where he becomes much darker with glimpses of the old lex here and their until season 7 where he is truly forged into Lex Luthor
