I like that many of the dice tower cast and crew are very religious in their private life. What I like even more is that while there is no denial of anyone’s faith, the channel’s family fun focus shines through without ever preaching at the audience. Y’all are cool. Good review.

I love the explanation that the game is done “like John Dominic Crossan designed it” - that pushed me toward getting it.

I didn't know you were a Christian as well as a boardgamer & comic fan! Me too, cool!

Great review Bryan, I have always been a fan of games you like since back in the day when I saw your review wwf royal rumble! Ha! But totally excited to try this someday soon, I do love the theme, we are always looking for unique themes in this industry, so I don’t really get people that would be turned off by the theme. now if they don’t love the game mechanics, totally understand. That is cool to hear about your life. I have recently been getting into apologetics, I love Frank Turek. Keep up the good work, helping others to live bold and confident.

I agree with you and disagree with Tom.

I am not a religious person, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be games for people that are. There should be games for everyone to enjoy. That said while I would not buy this myself, as long as a game is good I'm willing to try it.

Hi Bryan! I wanted to start by saying I'm a big fan of your reviews. I love your energy and enthusiasm. After watching your review on Stockpile, I immediately downloaded the app and bought the physical game. After watching your review of So Clover, I immediately got it; and taught it to my mom, and it's now her favorite game (or maybe second after rummicub) which is huge because she usually doesn't click with the games I play and try to share with her. Your delight in a game you like is just so infectious.
About two years ago, I lost my faith. I'm now in what I would call my "angry agnostic athiest" phase and discussing religion now is very painful and difficult for me.
I know this is not a witty comment, but I would just like you to really think about the ethics of ministering to children and young adults. There is a knowledge imbalance, an authority imbalance, an imbalance in brain maturity. If the message is as wonderful and compelling as I'm sure you believe, perhaps it can wait a few years until critical thinking skills have at least had a chance to develop and the evangelist is spreading the Word to a peer.

Phew. Ok. Sorry this has been stewing in my brain since I watched this video originally.
Absolutely not trying to pick a fight with you or anyone in the comments- this statement alone has been incredibly stressful to write.

While I don’t think this is a 5 like Tom I don’t give it much higher a rating. Theme aside it kind of feels like a jumble of mechanics that kind of work and are a bit interesting but relient on your draws with some games just being doa and can be very mean at times which isnt my cup of tea. However, my experience with this game is that the ones that enjoyed this the most and ranked it highly, though not all, have been the religious almost subconsciencely overlooking the negatives but I can understand I may do the same for a theme I am personally invested in.

Agree on the theming. That's why i fundamentally disagree with Space-Biff's review of this game. He is put-off by the theme saying it contrasts with the gospel, mainly in Mathew 20:16. Not only is it a very literal interpretation of the text (which in my opinion is not the most correct one), i interpret this game as your followers wanting to be closer to Jesus and the Apostles to be more blessed, not gain any honors. That said the only thing that makes it off-putting is the take that mechanisms of certain actions, like trading places with other followers, or giving favours that are completely useless to other players.

I am super curious about this game. I am an atheist AND a biblical scholar so I wonder how the theme and the historical accuracy (or lack there of) would work for me. Like a astronomer and Star Trek ya know?

John Dominic, yeah, I caught the reference. The other guy, not so much. But let's not exclude faith from John Dominic Carsson's perspective. He claims to be a Christian. Perhaps not your kind of Christian. Perhaps not my kind of Christian. Perhaps not our kind of Christian? What do I know? But he considers himself a Christian all the same. And any faith, including a faith in or assertion of no faith, will obviously color our interpretations. I find John's interpretations fascinating. Love reading him. I have to make lots of notes though. Anyway, not to go any further into the interpretive and theological weeds, I don't care for this game. I've only watched reviews of it, but they leave me cold. If you find it interesting, good on you. I'll look elsewhere.
