This is what is happening right now in Europe. The EV mandate in EU is basically killing our own car industry. The German economy and thereby the entire EU is extremely dependent on the car industry. If this doesn't change it will only be a huge win for China

As an electronic tech for 40 years the EV switch is laughable as policy makers are paid off and ignore the failure of the EV in the early car days these issue have never been resolved.
But stopping freedom of travel is in the governments best interest so that is why we have mandates.

If Biden is so big into electric cars, why doesn’t he have an electric limousine?

Pure propaganda! Nobody is being forced to buy electric cars. I own 2 and love them but nobody twisted my arm to buy them. I chose freely and it's been an awesome experience!

I totally agree that no one should be mandated to buy an EV and thankfully no one is mandated to buy an EV. However, I love my EV and fits well into my life. I save time each week not having to stop at the gas station, and I save money ($6.13 to drive an actual 290 miles). It is also very fun and sporty to drive. One pedal driving is very relaxing for me. But if you cannot charge at home or where you work, I would not get on EV right now. Wait for solid state batteries to be available in an affordable vehicle.

We need electric cars without the government interference or forced mandates. Free enterprise will succeed if the government just butts out !

As a 90s kid I remember back then the scare about overpopulation and how the future will not have enough food for everyone, now the current scare is climate. I wonder what will we switch in a couple of decades.

When hurricane Milton hit Tampa, six electric vehicles that flooded with salt water in home garages burst into flames burning the house down that fire trucks could not get to. Electric vehicle batteries are essentially unrepairable in the event of crash damage so insurance companies total the whole car. EV car insurance rates are 40% more than ICE cars. With the bumper to bumper traffic on I-75 fleeing the hurricane most people were having difficulty finding gasoline. Can you imagine if they were all electric trying to find charging capability?

If Government cared about the environmental issues, it would start with food, and big pharma, the whole car thing is a smoke screen.

curiosly since BEVs offer little or no benefit to the ecology; they are promoted with subsidies. Subsidies are taking money from one tax payer who can't afford a new car and giving those funds to someone that can in order to influence their purchase; a kind of unfair theft. With no clear benefit to BEVs you have to wonder why this is being done. Some think the answer is all solar wind but this currently is impossible. It would take current Lithium production 200 years just to make Tokyo an all electric city; even if you presume 10x current production; that is still 20 years; and so what about the rest of the 9 billion people?

Please ditch the nightmares that are the current Canadian and American governments. I can't imagine where either country will be if either is allowed to govern for another term.

Just the process of mining the minerals for those batteries completely destroys the local environment! Where are all you tree huggers at when it comes to THAT part?! Then there's The back end; most junkyards in America won't take them because they can't without HAZMAT (hazardous materials) training first. 😡

1 cargo ship produces as much emissions as 1 million cars per trip were doing nothing to fix them.

Over the last 250 million years, the average CO2 level was 1000 - 1200 PPM. We are now at 415 PPM. We need to more than double our CO2 level to get back to normal.

CO2 is not pollution, it is plant fertilizer.
