Beautiful hands. The hands tell a lot - not the nails alone.

That voice, that face, that body, that dress...! Perfection.

Aside from the gorgeous vocals, my favorite part of this whole thing is at the beginning. She goes "see i took something very precious and head* i dont think you understand...." and then tells us about how she sat her love out in the rain like a cake and it perished. Like that is the most diva moment for me rn.

People bad-mouth the disco era, but the 1970s were the best time of my life, and Donna Summer was a key part of it. Dance music still exists, it just isn't called disco anymore. Dancing all night in a virtual trance was addicting and an ecstatic feeling. And Ms. Summer had hit after hit, what a star.

Providence Civic Center, July 26th, 1981. No opening act. No additional singers. No chorus. (But why would you need 'em?) No accompanying dancers. (Thank God!) Only a few musicians with her. She ruled the stage, the evening. What a beautiful vision. Heavenly voice. She echoes, now, down through the decades. Thank you, Love. Sleep Well.

I had the honor and privilege to meet her in 1978. The circumstances are unimportant, but I was a nobody, just a regular guy. I had just got off the bus, and was walking, thumbing home in my army uniform, duffel bag over my shoulder. It was about 1am, and freezing. I lived in a suburb of Boston. A car pulls over and a door opens. Guy gets out throws my duffel bag in the trunk and I get in the back. There’s this beautiful lady, guy sitting next to her, and I’m on opposite side. I said thank you so much folks. The lady says are you in the army? I said ya, just got out, heading home. You Gus can drop me wherever you want, I’ll walk, not far from the highway. Now keep in mind, I’ve been overseas the past 6 years, a hard rock guy, I had no idea who she was. So she’s asking me where I was stationed, small talk. Then the guy sitting next to her says ok Donna, this is our exit. I said I can get out here, this is great, it’s only a few miles from here. Thank you so much for the ride folks. She says don’t be silly, we can take you the rest of the way. I felt bad and said are you. Sure? I can walk really. She said just tell the driver how to go. They took me right to my mom’s house, 2am in the morning. I said I can’t thank you enough for this folks and got out. The guy gets out and hands me my duffel bag and says you should feel pretty damn lucky man, that’s Donna Summer. I said really? Oh well thank you again. I had no idea who she was. Next morning I get up and my mom and sister see me. My mom asks, who picked you up? I said no one, I thumbed, a lady and her husband ( I didn’t know who he was, it was her manager) drove me. A lady? My mom asks. I said ya, said her name was Donna summer I think. They both laugh and say ya right, Donna Summer gave you a ride home! Hahahahaha. Couple days later I’m downtown with my sister at the record store and I see this big poster, it’s her! I said that’s her! That’s the lady who drove me home! From that day forward I was one of her biggest fans. That’s the gods honest true story. Even all these years later I still can’t believe it. She was one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met. Genuine. Talented beyond measure. She didn’t need 100 dancers on stage and light shows to distract from lack of talent. She was absolutely amazing. Broke my heart when I heard she was ill and then passed. She was one in a million ❤️

Now this is a singer! no singing aerobics or over doing the lyrics like some of today's so called "Divas". Donna Summer is the Queen and she is missed.

Between that voice and those looks, young Donna Summer was probably the most dazzling lady in pop music history.

Over 50 covers of this song but Donna was the only one to get it to Number One & Grammy nominated. And now I understand why? Incredible performer
