W124 Mercedes-Benz 260E sedan 124 series, 1990

The inline six is, for many enthusiasts, the greatest unit the world has come up with. Smooth-running, vibration-free, it also tastes great in a Mercedes edition. The engine with the factory designation M103 and a capacity of 2.6 liters appeared in every sedan body with a star on the hood. We could find it in both the W201, the W124 and the W126. While it turned the Baby-Benz into an almost sporty vehicle and the W126 into a staid limousine, in the W124 it was the golden mean. Dynamic enough and relatively economical, it lifted the price above DM 50,000 when new. That was more than for a 300D, but it was worth it then, and it's worth it today, especially if we're talking about a well-kept copy with low mileage and rare velour upholstery.
