Did a 9th grade report on Jonestown. My mom told me we had family that died there so I became really fascinated with the whole thing and went way too deep into researching it and ended up having nightmares for weeks. Fun times.

There was an old woman who survived the jonestown suicide. She stayed hidden in the bunk and saw the children’s bodies, her friends bodies surrounding everything. She recalled the screams and the horrible silence. I can’t remember her name, but I saw her interview way back in high school

Jonestown always gets me. So many of the victims were children and the elderly. There's a website that has every victims name and picture. It's massive.

Fun fact: One of the chapters of Dead By Daylight is based on Jonestown. In it, a cult leader squirrels away his followers to a place of 'perfect joy' where no one is allowed to speak or think negatively. Letters to offland relatives and loved ones are burned rather than delivered, and people who want to leave are killed and it's covered up by saying they left. A journalist comes by and is killed onstage before the crowd of followers who all begin to infight over their ideals until no one is left alive.
