I did have high hopes for the season, but was completely disengaged while watching it. I didn’t care about any of the side stories except for Francesca, who I loved, and was sick of seeing the Featherington family, as I saw way too much of them last season. I actually loved the actors who portrayed Penelope and Colin, but the events of this season didn’t give them much to work with. I saw no deep development on Colin’s side and couldn’t think of him as a main character. I also couldn’t relate Penelope to being Lady Whistledown which was a huge disappointment. A lot of her confidence comes from her business and she couldn’t channel that in even one scene in part 1. Throw in the characters’ questionable choices, lack of development, and million subplots, I’m left hoping next season will be better.
