CHICKENS in the MARKET GARDEN | LAST CSA drop | FARMVLOG 40

In the last episode we were preparing the chickshaw for its first use - today we wheel it out and into the market garden so our hens can get to work! We also harvest for our last CSA veg box of the season and talk about why community supported agriculture works so well for our small permaculture business.

Well done guys, I found your channel back in spring time and have really enjoyed following it since, I live in east central Scotland so I totally get the problems you have with our good old Scottish weather 😊, I’ve been growing a veggie and fruit garden for more years than I care to remember but just for family and friends so I can imagine the hard work you put in to be successful with your veg boxes and the time you take to video and edit your vlogs, I’ve loved every minute and can’t wait to see them next spring, hope you find the time to post a few winter ones to keep us all going! Oh and well done with your presenting on beechgrove garden Rosa your a natural! 👏 and hats off to mum for all her help she’s a real trooper! hope to see you soon guys take care and thanks ❤️

Really enjoying watching your videos here in Whangarei, Northland New Zealand. Essential dinner time viewing - along with the usual suspects: Simply living Alaska, Curtis Stone, Charles Dowding, Josh Stattin, and Richard Perkins etc. We love the 'use what you have philosophy' you practice. We are doing the same on a much smaller (much warmer) plot here. We hope to go commercial one day too. Your great work is inspiring us - please keep it up. Would be great to visit one day.

I love brussel sprouts 🙂 You will be looking forward to the winter break. Good luck with the planning of next year’s vegetable market garden. Will you be doing goats cheese over the next months?

Hello from Salt Lake City, Utah. I have viewed many gardening/homesteading vlogs this year and have been following several but I came across yours a few weeks ago and I have enjoyed them immensely. You are doing a great job and I love seeing the Scottish countryside as is my heritage though I have never visited. With all the hard work necessary you seem to always have a smile on your faces and are enjoying yourselves. At the end of the gardening seasoning it may not seem like you are living the dream but for many of us you are doing what we can only fantasize about. I look forward to your future vlogs and sharing in the challenges and growth of your channel and csa. Wishing you continued success and happiness in your endeavors.

All of you have done an amazing job! I had never heard of CSA or veg box before I found your channel. Like you said, every day is a school day. The amount of work that you put into your gardens, animals, farm is hard enough but to vlog, edit and upload on top of that has been so inspiring to me. Hope to see a few winter "day in the life" vids from you. Thank you!

We made a chickshaw, with smaller than suggested wood, and it's still crazy heavy. My next one will have smaller again wood 👍

Love following your journey.
Would love to find out where you get your electric fencing from. We are going to start up a farm in Portugal and would love to recreate a similar set up for our chickens. Been trying to look on amazon but not finding those specific ones. 😊

I adore Brussels sprouts! Roasted, steamed, baked, boiled, I love them all. Have done since I was a little one.

Greetings from Denmark! And thank you for sharing.
Realisticly, how many years do you think you can keep working like this?
Not least with all the bending.
I know I would not like to do it like this (I am 46). So for me veggies can only be a small part of it.

Congratulations on making a resounding success of a very difficult season! The 5-acre organic farm I run in Edmonton Canada had all the same struggles with cold and rain that you did, and it was this last week when we finally got the last veggies out. Our last workday of the season comes up on Saturday, and all we have to do is cover 7, 700 planted garlic with a 6-inch layer of dry leaves and cornstalks. After that, it's all work inside the barn for a while and then it'll be time for some rest. I look forward to seeing what kinds of things you can do over there during the winter.

Looking forward to the sauerkraut making episode.

About them brussle sprouts...they look wonderful. But there is absolutely no chance that I will ever eat them willingly. Lol
