Both Spyderco Sage 1 vs Sage 2 are excellent high end medium sized EDC knives. The choice really comes down to handle material: Carbon Fiber or Titanium? And locking mechanism: Michael Walker liner lock or Chris Reeve Integral (Frame) lock? S30V is a premium blade steel. The Sage 1 carbon fiber has been amazingly durable, and still looks brand new even after being carried extensively. The main difference is of course the handle material, with the Sage 2 featuring a titanium handle and frame lock. Pricing is an important consideration because the Sage 2 is about 45% more expensive than the Sage 1, at $180 & $125 respectively (2015 prices from BladeHQ). I prefer the Sage 2 because the titanium is a bit cooler for handle material, but overall they are both awesome knives for edc. Thanks for watching.
