Any idea why after flashing to 4.2 with JESC esc, bidirectional dshot I get Rpm filtering warning in my osd... When I try to arm.

Are we gonna brush over the fact he didnt say we were gonna learn something today? I for one learned something today, thanks Joshua Bardwell.

2:14 I am one of those people who likes having the release notes read to me with explanations. Don’t feel guilty about doing that type of thing. You are adding your commentary on it and drawing people’s attention to the new or different things going on

I really enjoyed this video! Thanks. BF 4.2 is so polished. I can feel the flight performance improvements coming from 4.1.5. Way to go BF devs. The most under appreciated group out there. Everyone ows them some love, money or whatever else you can think of

What a great kickoff to the weekend. 🙌 Shouts to you, JBards. I really appreciate that you create this content even if I don't end up watching most of it right when it comes out. You've created a great, historical archive of knowledge and it's so nice when you have a problem to be able to punch it into YouTube and find your video on the subject. Have you ever considered creating a wiki-like element on your website that helps keyword tag all your videos?

Joshua, you constantly remind me of your ability to explain complex electronic items. Without your ability’s I am sure that the arena of FPV would be diminished greatly! Kudos for another video that I will have to watch multiple times to fully put into practice.

As a nightly build flyer, I been tinkering with 4.2 and the 4.2 tuning notes for a while now. There is just so many good features in 4.2, I'm really glad you hit all the major points and just confirmed my feelings about 4.2 and its features/tuning principles.

After manually recreating my 4.1 set up in 4.2 in addition to some of the notes for 4.2 and the recommended new features, I finally have a 3 inch toothpick that flies perfect. No jitters or no mid throttle ocillation. Pretty cool.

I too listened to the end. I did some version of most of what you talked about and the quad I worked on has never flown better. I invested a fair amount of time in the process, but it was well worth it.

Just tried it out. Zero propwash and ultra cool motors. Love it.

Well...I listened to the end...and I guess it's thanks to you that I've become a humongous nerd. Love your deep dives, it's such a pleasure to listen to somebody who really knows what he's talking about!

NFE racemode is a whooping solution for pilots that primarily fly acro (dont we all?) and therefore feel unnatural in angle mode constantly pushing forward on the pitch stick to maintain speed. It just has a better flow feel on a tiny micro. In this flight mode your muscle memory from acro enjoys a much more neutral feeling on the sticks when cruising, but you still benefit from the roll axis leveling which gives angle mode whoop pilots their advantage on a tight race track. It's a throw back to my roots in the open pilot days where you could select the behavior of each axis independently. Whooping in level mode just wasnt for me, so I created this in order to make myself competitive in whoop races and shared it through silverware and some long forgotten forks of betaflight where it was rediscovered by Kevin @ emu. My mind is blown that it has caught on like this. :)

I'm a nerd too and love when you describe new release candidates I listen to them while I work and it makes the time go by quicker. Thank you 🙂

PHEW! ^^ thanks, Joshua.
I just finished a setup on a new FC using your playlist and the tuning notes. Gonna test it tomorrow.
Wish me luck!... ;)

Try the cinematic presets and tell me you can't use it for freestyle. This is so smooth. I love it. Also using actual rates and that center stick feel is awesome. 4.2 is king!

Betaflight OSD Suggestion:
A battery sag notification/visual warning in the OSD/telemetry would be very cool. It seems like maneuvers that cause battery sag also may preclude watching voltage numbers. It could be done the way that late model Subaru vehicles provide a visual +/- fuel economy gauge. The gauge is in the + or neutral range during normal driving, and move into the - range when you are pushing the motor.

NFE Race Mode is even better in Horizon with Horizon expert mode turned on...Silverware people call it "cheater mode" or "jelle mode" since it made it easier to fly as good as Jelle Bakker, and super awesome acro Silverware Whoop pilot. Emuflight goes even further with this feature. :)

Yaw spin recovery is not gyro overflow prevention. Yaw spin recovery is a feature that is designed to improve recovery of yaw spins caused by a gate clip for example. Gyro overflow prevention is a separate higher protection that tries to recover from possible axis overflow in gyros that have this bug (Invensense ICM gyros). So yaw spin recovery is a flight feature designed to help recover from gate or branch clips quicker. The feature is not new, it was just disabled by default and the user had to enable it and set the limit. The change is now it's enabled by default and set to a margin above the user's configured max yaw rate automatically.

Yeah, I'm a humongous nerd lol. Listened and applied the features I want to play with. Just need to go test fly now. Thank you JB. Your hard work is always appreciated.
