If You Like GOOSEBUMPS, Read These! // Spooky Book Recommendations

Today on Library Macabre, I am recommending seven different Goosebumps throwback book series to read if you are a fan of Goosebumps. All of these books (I feel) capture the essence of the original Goosebumps book series by R.L. Stine very well, and I just had to talk about them. The books featured in this video are Fright Vision by Culliver Crantz, Fright Watch by Lorien Lawrence, Frightville by Mike Ford, MonsterStreet by J.H. Reynolds, Don't Call at All by Robbie Myles, Spine Shivers by J.A. Darke, and Twisted Books to Leave You Shook by C.S. James.

Evil clowns, creepy dolls, killer smart phones, and Halloween feelz... these books have it all, not to mention all the spooky '90s nostalgia of Goosebumps. I hope this helps you find some great books to read! Also, don't forget to check out my Goosebumps collection video, where I do a bookshelf tour showing every Goosebumps book I own!

I don’t know what it is but your videos make me feel like a kid in the 90’s on Halloween again.

I’m 46 and I absolutely loved the Fear Street Saga series. I wish I had held onto those books.

Goosebumps is what got me into reading so they’ll always have a soft spot in my heart.

I'm currently reading the Fear Street books and some Christopher Pike novels and I plan to start reading some Goosebumps books soon. I plan on writing some teenaged horror/supernatural books which I plan on releasing to KDP soon. In fact. I've already plotted out the first book. But these kind of videos have inspired me to go back to my roots with some 90s favorites.

Hey, Cameron. I just saw this. Thank you so much for the FRIGHTVILLE shout out. I'm so happy that you enjoyed them. I don't know if there will be more of them, but there's a standalone horror novel coming from Scholastic in 2022.

I think what made the old Goosebumps books so much better than anything coming today is because most of us read them when we were kids so we fit the age range and could relate to the characters. Reading them as an adult isn't the same, but still enjoyable. I'm loving these throwback videos. I also can't help but notice your Buffy the Vampire Slayer books in the background! I grew up with the show and the books and recently started collecting the books too.

Thanks for the Twisted Books to Leave You Shook shoutout, Cameron!

Side note: I can confirm Don’t Call At All is a lot of fun! And that cover is sooo good.

No joke, my first elementary school had a weird rule where you had to be in the 3rd grade before the librarians let you read Goosebumps (weirdly enough, a parent would read a ' you choose the scare' Goosebumps every Friday.) When I changed schools, the school library didn't have Goosebumps but they had 5 Minute Chillers and 5 Minute Frights. Those two unnerved me like crazy and I definitely recommend them. One story in particular that scared me was a story about Scarecrows that gouged the eyes out of a kid and stuffed him full of straw for his dad to find in a cornfield.

Another great video! Believe it or not I was never into Goosebumps... or that much R.L. Stine. Gasp I know! I was just loyal to Christopher Pike and back then I thought his books were scarier. But I'm definitely trying to read more R.L. Stine now and see what I missed.
Stitchers I've had on my TBR since I saw your review. Can't wait to read that. And now I'll also have to add The Grin in the Dark. Sold! 😄
And add The Halloweeners too! Awww it made you cry?! That says a lot. I better not cry. 😄
