It's not just the $174 for Part B, then around $200+ for the supplement then you also need a drug plan plus dental, vision, hearing coverage. Pretty soon the average SS check is gone.

I’m done. I’ll pull my own tooth. Drs. and insurances are ridiculous.

Listening to all this and knowing how people will struggle to sort out what to do next is a strong reminder of how convoluted our medical care system is in this country.

One hospital in rural America said they had to sign 80 separate plans to treat advantage plan patients..and then the insurance companies don't pay their bills on time bankrupting hospitals. I worked in insurance. I saw the evils.

My daughter was approached by her doctor and asked her for 1300 dollars and her insurance so she can get direct access immediately! Ridiculous

I remember someone phoned in to Dave Ramsey and asked him if he could help them on the best time to take Social Security. Dave responded "Sure I can do that" Just tell me when you are going to die. Really put it all in perspective. Great Video! Lots of great questions answered.

Dr. Weir, maybe I misheard you, but I believe you misspoke. Cutting taxes on Social Security will not affect how much money goes into Social Security. FICA taxes will remain the same.
When I filed my tax return, my social security, which was already taxed in the beginning, was taxed again depending on how much other income I have as a retired person.
President trump and apparently now Vice President Harris are both suggesting that Social Security benefits should not be taxed again.
What will happen if Social Security benefits are not taxed is obvious, less revenue for Uncle Sam. Not to worry, our lawmakers will take care of that, raise taxes elsewhere, and probably even more to cover the "shortfall "
To my way of thinking, it's an issue of fairness. We've already paid Social Security through the fica taxes that came out of our paycheck. SS benefits should not be taxed again!

Why doesn't "the" or "any" Presidential candidates that want
to stop taxing Social Security finally wake up and replace those taxes by taxing WELFARE? Social Security recipients worked for theirs. Welfare recipients don't. Just saying....

Yes, I turned 65 in early January and was bombarded with part B plans. So I paid 174.00 peronth until May when I finally realized I don't need part B. I'm employed and pay 128.00 per month for group health insurance. That's 700.00 I lost for nothing I rarely get I'll. Only have 2 Rxs.

I am 73 and diabetic and have Humana Advantage. Recently my doctor phoned in a prescription for Lantis (sp?). Humana pays approximately $20 and I pay $93. Humana refused to allow the pharmacy to fill the prescription because it was "too soon." I figured if I paid the full amount and didn't use Humana at all (only a $20 difference) that would solve the problem but Humana still would not let the pharmacy fill the prescription. Why does Humana have any right to refuse if I bypass them and pay the full amount?

When they tell me X, I say, "Oh, I see. Could you please put that in writing?" Then you have a record of exactly what they have told you.

Now I know why "they" are going way back to last quarter of 2023 & charging money for bills from the emergency room, doctor & other expenses. Unexpectedly I am receiving charges to the tune of around $ 1, 000.. total for last year! I can tell you right now that I won't be going to the Dr. twice a year. The Dr. spends all of 10 minutes in the room with me, a lot of the time not even listening to my heart & charge $ 150. & up, per visit. The only meds I take are the ones I have to take to keep me living. Also, nurses (some) are NOT kind like they used to be. I had a massive heart attack & I ended up walking out of the hospital & going home because of their treatment! I have always been treated so well by the hospital staff & now many of them are awful, not Times are changing!

I have Medicare Part A/B and I kept my private insurance after retirement. Costs me about $4K in total every year, but so far I've paid nothing since I got Medicare other than pharmacy copays. No advantage plan here. Our entire medical system needs to be re-built from the ground up, and that has to include insurance and CDC. Big Pharma needs to be taken over by governments - yes, I know, I know. Our CDC gets paid off by Big Pharma now - think about that.

@Dr. Ed, the increases for 2025 were from Emblem in NY. I checked other companies and couldn't find any info on increases yet.

Whatever it's a joke as it is now. You go to the doctor, they sometimes go through the motions, take a little blood, listen to your heart, but help you? Naw. Fix a tooth...naw.
