On OU - If they can keep Mateer healthy through the season and give Hawkins his RS back, that would be ideal to only play Hawkins in 4 games. But, after 24 & the injuries, that’s wishful thinking at this point. Moreover, there’s the off-season qb battle, for Hawkins has stated he intends to compete for the qb1 spot. If he gets beat-out by Mateer, which is probable due to Mateer’s experience in the system, well a man knows when he’s bested and he can cope with that. The key there is to make sure it’s a true competition and not just given to Mateer without it being proven he’s qb1. If MH gets beat at the position, is willing to sit and learn for a season from Arbuckle & Mateer, he’ll have 2 years as qb1 and O’Neal as the heir-apparent (in an ideal world). In the NIL world, who knows how this all plays out.
