Sheila N. Myatra, MD, FICCM, FCCM, presented the William C. Shoemaker Honorary Lecture at SCCM’s 2023 Critical Care Congress. Dr. Myatra covered the complexities of fluid management in critically ill patients with acute circulatory failure, especially after initial resuscitation. She discussed the concepts of fluid responsiveness and currently used methods and tests for assessing fluid responsiveness at the bedside, along with their limitations and ways to overcome them.

Dr. Myatra is a professor at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India.
